Psalm 133 tells us to “dwell in unity”. This applies to all aspects of our life… Church, family, and work…. The Word likens it to oil being poured upon the head, flowing to the beard of Aaron, and running down the edge of his garment. The relative symbolism here is… it all starts with JESUS. JESUS is the head of everything! He is to be the head of all aspects of our lives and our church… If anything but JESUS is the head, things are out of order!
As the oil flows to the beard, we need to understand the beard is a sign of maturity. Regardless of gender, we are to mature in our relationship with God and realize the beard is not gender specific… but Christian specific.
The role of the beard is multi-faceted. The beard has boundaries and we must understand:
It starts at the ear or hearing level. We need to hear the Word of the LORD and say… Speak LORD, I am listening.
The beard represents maturity and our ability to discern what the LORD says… We need to be mature and begin seeing HIS word for our lives. Discernment comes with maturity!
The beard also represents protection and guarding of God’s word in our life. With maturity we guard our words and know there is power in the tongue.
In this season, “The Beard Company” is growing. As we mature in this season and in the Lord, we need to Hear the Word, discern and see what God is saying, and protect every aspect of that Word!
